Indian imported shredded scrap prices hold amid pre-Diwali lull.

Indian imported containerized shredded scrap prices held steady Oct. 14, with spot activity muted as market players remained largely sidelined ahead of the Diwali holiday period.

Platts assessed imported containerized shredded scrap at $355/metric ton CFR Nhava Sheva Oct. 14, unchanged day over day.

Bids for imported containerized shredded scrap were heard at $345-$350/mt CFR Nhava Sheva.

Offers for imported containerized shredded scrap were heard at $360-$365/mt CFR Nhava Sheva.

Market participants said conditions were stagnant, with mills showing little inclination to restock.

“Nothing is moving, [there is] hardly any demand [for scrap in the market],” a trader said.

Regional markets continued to offer firmer outlets. Tradable values for containerized shredded scrap were heard at $365-$367/mt CFR Port Qasim in Pakistan, while Bangladesh values were indicated at $370/mt CFR Chittagong.
